Step out at Churchillplein after about 5 minutes.
Underground
It is also possible to take the underground from Rotterdam Central Station, Rotterdam Blaak or Schiedam Centrum. Alight at Beurs.
Our offices are located in “De Leuve” Building, at the corner of Schiedamsedijk and Schilderstraat.
By boat
By the time you will have reached this part, you
are no longer here for serious purposes.
Anyway, now that you have shown interest:
Water taxi
Right in front of “De Leuve” is a water taxi
landing stage. The water taxi is a super-fast and, not uncommonly,
spectacular means of transportation between thirty
places on the Nieuwe Maas river where the water taxi can
be boarded.
For full details on this form of transportation over water,
refer to www.watertaxirotterdam.nl.
By boat in general
Our office is easily reached by boat. A mooring place can
be found in the Veerhaven harbour, from where additional
transportation by means of the above-mentioned water taxi
is available. The Leuvehaven harbour has been made into
a maritime open-air museum and is not open for navigation.
Rotterdam’s harbours are tidal harbours. The water
levels need to be taken into consideration. Furthermore,
navigation of the Rotterdam harbour area requires some preparation.
The Municipal Port Management provide information with regard
to the vessel traffic services.
When calling at the Veerhaven harbour, the current needs
to be taken into consideration. An ebb or flood stream travelling
with a speed of up to 3 km/h (1.5 knots) flows past the
Veerhaven harbour entrance. The flood stream is present
from approximately 2 hours before high water until approximately
1 hour after high water at Rotterdam. Slack water hardly
occurs at the turn of the tide. There can be a noticeable
deviant current in the Veerhaven harbour entrance. Larger
boats in particular are advised, if necessary, to turn round
and approach the harbour against the current.
Please refer to the most recent edition of part two of the
Dutch nautical almanac for information on opening times
of bridges and locks along the various routes.
The routes described – with the exception of the alternative
route from Gouda – can be navigated keeping masts
standing.
Route from Amsterdam – Leiden – Den
Haag – Delft
The route from Amsterdam leads to Leiden via the
Ringvaart (ring canal) of the Haarlemmermeerpolder and via
the Kagerplassen and the river Zijl. It then goes to Delft
via the Rijn-Schiekanaal and the Vliet along The Hague.
From there, sail along the river Schie to the Parksluizen
locks in Rotterdam.
After these locks, turn port onto the river Nieuwe Maas.
After approximately 1000 metres turn into the Veerhaven
harbour on port side.
Route from Dordrecht
The route from Dordrecht leads to the river Noord via the
river Oude Maas or the river Merwede. The Sophiapolder near
Hendrik Ido Ambacht can be passed on port hand via the Rietbaan
as well as on starboard hand along the Noord. Keep to port
when the river Lek is joined. The Bakkerskil on starboard
side is shallow (D14). When the river Hollandse IJssel is
joined, turn port onto the river Nieuwe Maas. After passing
the Van Brienenoordbruggen, Willemsbrug and Erasmusbrug
bridges turn into the Veerhaven harbour on starboard hand
after approximately 400 metres.
Route from Utrecht – Gouda
The route from Utrecht follows the river Hollandse IJssel
via Gouda.
When the river Nieuwe Maas is joined, turn to starboard
onto this river.
After passing the Van Brienenoordbruggen, Willemsbrug and
Erasmusbrug bridges turn into the Veerhaven harbour on starboard
hand after approximately 400 metres.
There is an alternative route, a ‘short cut’
from Gouda leading via the Ringvaart (ring canal) of the
Zuidplaspolder and the river Rotte. This route offers limited
height (H24) and draught (D9).
